“Patriotism the need of the day”- Republic Day celebrations at LPU

As we all know patriotism is the need of the day, Lovely Professional University tries to instill such feelings in its students-the future citizens of the country. The students are encouraged to organize and participate in various social activities and festival celebrations. An example of this is the celebration of the Republic Day in the University Campus. A show was organized by the Education and the Physical Education department of the University that observed enthusiastic participation by students and teachers at LPU. The program began with the Flag Hoisting ceremony. After the flag hoisting, a march past took place. To portray unity in diversity, various dances depicting different cultures of the country were presented by the students. Hoop dance, Bhangra, Rajasthani Dance, a performance on patriotic song, aerobics, yoga and a one act play based on the sacrifices made by the great leaders were some of the highlights of the day.   The event ended with note of thanks by Mr. Vijay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, LPU who expressed his feelings of being honored to be a part of such a program and commented that such shows at LPU truly prove the patriotism, which is the need of the day.

Placement Drive at Lovely Professional University by Jubilant Chemsys

Jubilant Chemsys Limited , a leading company of Indian pharma sector conducted a placement program in Lovely Professional University and selected students from the field of M Pharma and M Sc (Chemistry). The students were selected after rigorous selection criteria involving written test, subject-based interview and general interview. This year is good for placements when it comes to students from Pure Sciences. The revival in the economy spells good for students passing out this year. All are geared up to garner record number of placements, this academic season. The selected students will be handling high end operations with respect to various operational facets of the organization. The students will join the organization in the month of July 2010, after the completion of their studies at LPU.

Lovely Professional University ties up with North Dakota State University, USA to strengthen higher education

It is an era of pooling up of resources and strengths to generate maximum benefits for maximum number of people. The paradigms of Indian professional education are changing and the Indian professionals have always been welcomed in the West. With Indian education poised for greater heights, US universities are excited to get tied up with Indian counterparts to learn the models and methodologies that produce the best students in the whole world.
A team of three senior executives, Dr. Karen Froelich (Director- MBA programs NDSU), Dr. Robert Stan Herren (Professor, Deptt. of Economics-NDSU) and Ms. Tanya Kramer (Study Abroad Advisor NDSU), from North Dakota State University, USA visited Lovely Professional University to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the senior management of LPU with an aim of to bring the best of US education to the door steps of Indian students.

The draft MoU that has been put forward by the two Universities stated that both LPU and NDSU will work together in the field of Twinning Programs in the Management and Engineering areas at Under Graduate and Graduate level; Faculty Exchange programs, Joint Research programs, Mapping of Curriculum for Credit Transfer in the field of Masters of Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Technology, Cultural visit by the Students of NDSU at LPU, Student Exchange programs.

As a part of the visit, NDSU evaluated 41 courses of LPU in Management and Engineering areas, with a possible arrangement of student transfer. The online curriculum of NDSU was discussed and initial matching of course scheme of BBA, MBA (Business) and B.Tech (Mechanical) was proposed to be done by LPU shortly. NDSU also discussed the evaluation and conversion of transcripts and grade system (both CGPA to GPA and vice versa) by WES (World Education Services). In addition, grading system of both the Universities was discussed to bring about a parity in the evaluation standards of the two Universities.
